Well Happy New Year! I have decided today to end the recent break I've taken from blogging and jump back on the bandwagon.

Minor updates:
Parker - fully potty trained and hardcore into "the 3s". He loves playing Candyland, going to the YMCA and has a new found love for monster trucks. And still the most handsome little thing I've ever laid eyes on.
Joey - 3 down, 1 to go. I'm confidently saying that he will get to add those three precious letters to the end of his title soon - CPA! Plus its almost his birthday.
Me - 2nd to last semester before a B.A., still a SAHM and proud of it, looking forward to a trip up north (by myself) at the end of the month

This week General Mills announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

82.5 million of moms in the U.S. - 2 Billion moms throughout the world.

4.3 Babies born each second!

82% of women aged 40-44 years old who are mothers. In 1976, 90% of women in that age group were mothers.

25 is the average age of new moms. In 1970 it was 21.

40% of all births are the mother's first.

4.0 Million is the number of women who have babies each year. Of this number, about 425,000 are teens aged 15-19, and more than 100,000 are age 40 or over.

35,000 births are attended by physicians, midwives or others that do not occur in hospitals.

This morning I needed to refer back to life lesson #9843; NEVER turn your back on a toddler.

Well, I broke this rule and Parker decided to turn our big jug of milk into his favorite drink, "pink milk". The little monster was able to get the milk out of the fridge, get it up on the counter, and add his strawberry syrup. Thankfully I had caught him before he'd started to pour himself a cup. Pink milk is hard to get out of carpet - we've learned that the hard way too.

Flat Cola

Don't pour flat cola down the sink, instead pour it into your toilet bowl and leave for an hour before flushing. It'll get rid of any limescale deposits and stains.

We took a little trip to the Great Smoky Mountains this past weekend. Seems like we stayed busy the whole time, but we had lots of fun. The last thing we did before we came home was a ZIPLINE! We rode 6 lines which makes the tour the longest in the country. We bought disposable cameras for that adventure so I dont have any pictures from that yet. Needless to say, the girls were less afraid that the guys.

While we there there we went to Cherokee, NC and Harrah's Casino.

We had plenty of good food and drinks.

We played mini golf and rode go carts.

We drove into the mountains where we got married :)

And no trip would be complete without seeing a black bear!

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies

Ingredients

2 sticks unsalted butter, plus more for the pan
8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
4 large eggs
3 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 large peanut butter cups, cut into pieces

Heat oven to 400° F.

Melt the butter and chocolate in a pan over low heat.

Using a mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until pale yellow and fluffy. Lower speed and pour in the melted chocolate and vanilla. Mix in the flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Fold in the peanut butter cups.

Scrape into a buttered 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Bake until the tip of a knife comes out clean, about 35 minutes.

It's Only Getting Worse....

And if you're thinking this looks like a crime scene from a horror movie - don't worry. It was just my kitchen after Parker decided to help himself to a glass of Kool-Aid. Notice the dishwasher door is open. Thats where the cup came from. What the stool is for, I dunno. But somehow he managed to spill in all in the kitchen floor, then walk a few steps and pour the rest on the carpet.

At least this time he tried to help me clean up.

That lasted for for about 9 seconds.
And notice the red stained hand. Busted!

At present time, I'm welcoming tips on how to clean cherry Kool-Aid out of beige carpet and off 2 year olds.

Finally: I would like to take a second to publicly apologize to my mother. I've always heard that you pay for your raising, so whatever I did as a toddler to deserve this, I'm sorry.

As I've said before, we're moving soon. So this morning I was on the phone with the cable company, busy arranging for our services to get transfered and tying up some other loose ends....oblivious to what was happening in our living room.

Then I heard the dreaded words, "Uh OH!" Which brings me to another good point Parker must learn. If you do something bad - don't run tell your mom. She's the last person you want to find out.

Anyways, Parker found the paper shredder!

I assume he thought it was confetti.

But I didn't get invited to the party. I only got called in to clean up.

We had a good weekend. Sunday Joey got to go to the gun show and buy a new toy! We also had a nice lunch together and got to take a stroll outside while we were waiting for Parker to come home from his grandparents. This time of year, alone time with Joey is rare so I enjoy what little I can get. :)

On Saturday we took Parker to a birthday party in Cookeville. There were inflatables there for the kids to bounce and slide on, and Parker had a blast! He only wanted to go down on his belly - face first!

There were circus themed games for the kids to play. Parker liked trying to ring the bell with the big hammer and knocking pins over with daddy.

We even got to play outside some too.

Joey and I weren't parents yet. We had Thanksgiving lunch, came home and put our Christmas tree up. 2 years ago tonight we went to bed for the last time without Parker. 2 years ago I didn't know love at first sight existed or how it felt to want time to stop and babies to stop growing.

This post is inspired from my mommy board. We've been coming up with ideas to get us all blogging more. So this is a post about what this quote means to me:

"As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person."

As a mother, I feel like its my responsibility to help shape and mold the person my child will turn into. I want to teach him right and wrong. I want him to understand its ok to be sad, and to enjoy happiness in little things. I want to Parker to learn respect and manners, and use them at appropriate times. I want to teach Parker how fortunate he is to have a huge family that loves him. I want Parker to understand that no matter how upset or mad I am with him, I still love him more than myself. I want Parker to see good in others.
This reminds me of another quote I once saw. "A parent's life is a child's guidebook." As Parker's mother, I feel it is also my responsibility to live the rest of my life in a way that I would want him to. I want to see my son become the person I already know he can be and I want to do everything I can to keep him on that track. He is MY world I and one day I want to be responsible for all his good

Now that we live in Nashville, Joey and I love going to the Predators game. Its not that often because of our schedule that we get to go, but we try. Joey did some arranging last week and got us the best seats we've had so far.

I believe that my mother should be recognized first. She reallllllllly loves blogging. She helps all her students run their blogs and that in turn made her the only person I know that had so many blogs that blogger thought she wasn't human and tried to kick her out. My mom has also been overheard saying, more than once, "Let's make a picture for the blog!"

Misty could possibly be the sweetest blogger ever. Her blog is always so pretty, and so is she. She understands my struggles being the mom of a toddler terror, only she's done it x 2.

If I want to laugh out loud, I read Casey's blog. She doesn't know it yet, but I've got us lots of playdates lined up for when she moves to Nashville. Her two boys will make you overdose on cuteness if your not prepared.

Brandy is sweet baby Emma's mom. Pictures of Emma don't do her justice. She's so sweet and dainty. When I was in college, I worked with Brandy and her husband, so I always love catching up on them!

My favorite sister started a blog with her hubs and some friends. This blog will be funny once they start getting out more.

Well, we're doing it again. Packing up our lives in one city to move to another. Today begins our last week in Chattanooga. I'm hoping and praying we can find an apartment on Saturday, sign a lease and get moved half way across the state before Oct 6th. Think we can do it??

When we do move, I'm going to be staying home again with Parker, so I cross my heart that I'll get my blog up and rockin' again. (I gotta keep up with my mom...the blogging fool) So if I don't post it again, I'll say it for the last time - BYE CHATTANOOGA! We're out.
