Joey and I weren't parents yet. We had Thanksgiving lunch, came home and put our Christmas tree up. 2 years ago tonight we went to bed for the last time without Parker. 2 years ago I didn't know love at first sight existed or how it felt to want time to stop and babies to stop growing.

This post is inspired from my mommy board. We've been coming up with ideas to get us all blogging more. So this is a post about what this quote means to me:
"As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person."
As a mother, I feel like its my responsibility to help shape and mold the person my child will turn into. I want to teach him right and wrong. I want him to understand its ok to be sad, and to enjoy happiness in little things. I want to Parker to learn respect and manners, and use them at appropriate times. I want to teach Parker how fortunate he is to have a huge family that loves him. I want Parker to understand that no matter how upset or mad I am with him, I still love him more than myself. I want Parker to see good in others.
This reminds me of another quote I once saw. "A parent's life is a child's guidebook." As Parker's mother, I feel it is also my responsibility to live the rest of my life in a way that I would want him to. I want to see my son become the person I already know he can be and I want to do everything I can to keep him on that track. He is MY world I and one day I want to be responsible for all his good

Preds
Now that we live in Nashville, Joey and I love going to the Predators game. Its not that often because of our schedule that we get to go, but we try. Joey did some arranging last week and got us the best seats we've had so far.
We decided we could get used to sitting this close. (Even though I stayed terrified a puck was going to hit me)
Jordin Tootoo is my favorite player.

&hearts Your Blog
A few days I was tagged by the "I love your blog" fairy! (aka Jenn). So naturally I have to keep it going.
The rules are . . .
2 - Add a link to the person who awarded it to you.
3 - Nominate at least 7 other bloggers.
4 - Add links to their blogs.
5 - Leave a comment for your nominees on their blogs!
I don't want to repeat any that Jenn has already did, so I'm only going to do 6, and they're in no particular order :)
Mom
Misty
Casey
Brandy
Stephanie
Jenn
I believe that my mother should be recognized first. She reallllllllly loves blogging. She helps all her students run their blogs and that in turn made her the only person I know that had so many blogs that blogger thought she wasn't human and tried to kick her out. My mom has also been overheard saying, more than once, "Let's make a picture for the blog!"
Misty could possibly be the sweetest blogger ever. Her blog is always so pretty, and so is she. She understands my struggles being the mom of a toddler terror, only she's done it x 2.
If I want to laugh out loud, I read Casey's blog. She doesn't know it yet, but I've got us lots of playdates lined up for when she moves to Nashville. Her two boys will make you overdose on cuteness if your not prepared.
Brandy is sweet baby Emma's mom. Pictures of Emma don't do her justice. She's so sweet and dainty. When I was in college, I worked with Brandy and her husband, so I always love catching up on them!
My favorite sister started a blog with her hubs and some friends. This blog will be funny once they start getting out more.
Jenn tagged me, so I'm tagging her back! Thanks for making our mommy board. :)

10 Reason I Love Being A Mom
AVON
I recently became an Avon Representative. I've been ordering from a friend for a while, so I figured since I loved the products, I might as well give it a try for myself. Most of you can't be here and see my books in person, but you can still order off my website: www.youravon.com/tcowan
This website is great for all of you out of town friends because there is no due date for orders, you can pay instantly, and its shipped right to your house. You'll need to register with the website before you start shopping. Make sure you check out the specials under each category.
Here are 2 of my favorite picks for this campaign:
Lip Swirls Gloss
Comes in 6 different shades. I love the pale shimmer color. Small, but not too little to find in your purse for just the right amount of color.
Glimmersticks
Eye Liner
I have 3 of these. LOVE 'em. I had never been a big eye liner user until I bought my first one of these. Oh, and they're cheaper if you buy them online versus out of a brochure.

Festivals
We ventured out in our new town this past weekend. There were several festivals going on in one part of town, so we checked them out with Steph and J.
Our view of the the State Capital. Below it, there were people doing a recreation of the civil war.
German Festival.
Parker with his fav uncle J. And attempting (and failing) to make a pic with Joey.

Every Blogger Needs A Political Post
Except mine is going to be short and I'm not going to badger anyone into sharing my views, or even tell you who I'm going to vote for. Thats my business, not yours. My point however, is that I want people to know that I do plan on voting. I think everyone should. We're Americans, its our right and our duty.

In Transit
Well, we're doing it again. Packing up our lives in one city to move to another. Today begins our last week in Chattanooga. I'm hoping and praying we can find an apartment on Saturday, sign a lease and get moved half way across the state before Oct 6th. Think we can do it??
When we do move, I'm going to be staying home again with Parker, so I cross my heart that I'll get my blog up and rockin' again. (I gotta keep up with my mom...the blogging fool) So if I don't post it again, I'll say it for the last time - BYE CHATTANOOGA! We're out.

We're Headed To The Mountains
This is really the cabin we're staying in!
Joey, Parker and I are meeting: my sister and husband, parents and granparents tomorrow for a long weekend! The cabin is creekside so we'll all spend alot of time in the river. Last year Parker wasn't even 1 and had a blast, so this year I'm sure will be even better. I have so many good, fun memories from being there when I was younger with my family and now that I have Parker I have so many things I want to do with him. See ya'll on Monday!

Catchin' Up
We're still alive...and blogging! Our little family has had a busy last couple weeks, and I've gotten behind. So, quickly: Parker is growing like a weed, getting smarter and possibly a little meaner each day. I'm working now and Joey is still truckin' along studying for his CPA. We sold our house, and we're living on a leap of faith right now. So we could use all the positive vibes you've got at the moment!

Parker Had A Fight With The Floor
And the floor won.
Parker should, however, be given credit for his bravery to dive in head first against his ceramic tiled opponent. It happened so quickly, his dad and I are not 100 percent positive as to how he did it, but we do know that he ended up on the kitchen floor screaming with a massive knot on his head. There was no blood, but I've never seen a knot come up that big that quickly. Apparently thats a good thing.
Now me, being the first time over protective mother who has seen too many episodes of CSI, insisted that he be looked at by a doctor. Thankfully, he was checked out and was fine...probably just a little sore. I'm thinking its time we start considering investing in a helmet.

It is 2:17 a.m.
Parker is in the living room wide awake and dancing to Yo Gabba, and I'm playing yatzy online. I'm going to have to have a talk about this with him when he's older. Maybe I'll just wait until he's 24 and call him a couple times in the middle of the night.
Hopefully tomorrow is a day that allows us to sleep in - I will probably need it.

Parker Needs This
Despite all the mixed advice I've received on potty training, we're in full swing again. Today I found this on Walmart.com Isn't it awesome? We have the plain starter potty right now. Maybe when we get realllly good at it, we can upgrade to this model.
I don't want to jinx us by typing/(bragging) too much about the subject, but we've been having very good luck with Parker this week. Last weekend I think was a bit of a break through for us. He got to play naked outside at his grandparents', and I think he finally realized that he had 'control' and could make himself pee when he needed to. He gets so proud of him self when he sits down and does his business. For the last 2 days we've spent alot of time in the bathroom, hopefully its going to start paying off.
(Or he could just be a man and enjoy sitting on the toilet as long as possible?!?)

Help, Please
Hi Bloggers & Readers,
Doing a little work on my blog today. I found a new background that I adore. Problem is that its hard to read the font with my elements, especially my profile and I can't figure out how to change the font color. I am NOT good with HTML, but somehow I managed to get the profile font bolded. Now I'm stuck.Any suggestions on how I make the font easier to read?
Thanks,
Tracie & Napping Parker
